Laser based Flow Diagnostics used in Experimental Fluid Mechanics/Combustion Domain

Abstract

Continuous growth & enhancement in the non-intrusive laser-based flow diagnostics development has helped to resolve critical experimental flow/combustion features finding occurrence within wind/water tunnels, combustor/engines, open jets/atomizers, etc. A brief overview of the prevailing techniques and working principles of Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV), Particle Image Velocity (PIV), Laser Induced Florescence (LIF) are covered to emphasis the limiting flow characterization evaluating from a single point-measurements leading to volume-measurements within the confined 3D space.
